SaySpend Privacy Policy

SaySpend is a voice-first expense tracking app by Still Frost. This policy explains what data the app handles, why it is used, and the choices you have.

Summary

• SaySpend is designed to be local-first. Guest expenses stay on your device unless you sign in and enable sync.
• Raw microphone audio is not stored by SaySpend.
• Apple Speech is used first for speech recognition when available.
• OpenAI-backed features are used only for supported AI features, such as uncertain expense parsing, smart titles, receipt parsing, and spending summaries.
• Receipt images are sent for parsing and are not stored by SaySpend after processing unless a future saved-attachment feature is added.
• We do not sell personal data.
• We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Information You Provide

Depending on how you use the app, SaySpend may process:

• Expense details, including title, amount, currency, category, date, source, and optional transcript text.
• Account information, such as email address or Apple Sign In identifier, when you create an account.
• App preferences, including currency, daily limit, AI feature consent, smart titles setting, and subscription status.
• Receipt photos that you choose to scan.
• StoreKit transaction identifiers and subscription metadata needed to verify Pro access.

Voice And Audio

SaySpend uses device microphone access only when you start voice entry. The app uses Apple Speech first to produce a text transcript. SaySpend does not store raw audio.

If Apple Speech fails or local parsing is uncertain, and you have accepted AI features, transcript text may be sent to the SaySpend backend for parsing. If AI is unavailable or fails, the app still saves a local expense when possible using local parsing and the category Other.

AI Features

SaySpend uses backend-proxied OpenAI APIs for selected features. API keys are not stored in the app.

AI-backed features may process:

• Transcript text for expense parsing and smart titles.
• Receipt images for receipt scanning.
• Aggregated spending totals for spending summaries.

Spending summaries are descriptive only. They are not financial, tax, legal, credit, investment, or debt advice.

Cloud Sync

Guest mode works locally. If you sign in, SaySpend can sync expenses and preferences through Supabase so you can restore data across devices. Synced data is associated with your account and protected by row-level security rules.

Subscriptions

SaySpend Pro subscriptions are purchased through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes payment information. SaySpend receives StoreKit transaction metadata needed to verify entitlement status, renewal status, and expiration.

Data Retention

Local guest data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Synced account data remains while your account is active. Temporary receipt data is used for parsing and is not retained by SaySpend after processing.

Account Deletion

Signed-in users can request account deletion from Settings in the app. Account deletion removes the app account and associated synced SaySpend data from the backend. Apple subscription management remains handled through Apple.

Service Providers

SaySpend uses service providers to operate the app:

• Supabase for authentication, database, sync, storage, and Edge Functions.
• OpenAI for selected AI processing through backend calls.
• Apple for Sign in with Apple, Speech APIs, StoreKit, and App Store subscription management.

Security

We use reasonable technical measures for a small production app, including local-first storage, HTTPS, backend-only AI keys, Supabase row-level security, and server-side subscription verification. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.

Children

SaySpend is not directed to children under 13.
